From a distance, 'Deliverance' may appear to be a depiction of a typical butterfly. Take a step closer and things become more interesting: Yap uses skulls and imagery sourced from vintage erotica to create the patterns adorning the butterfly's wings. The copper colourway is the warm, metallic choice in the family: it picks up the lustre of her celebrated hand-foiled editions at a fraction of the price, those 50 × 50cm foil versions sell at £450 in editions of 50. The butterfly is her most sustained body of work, a symbol of transformation and freedom, and this mini format is its accessible on-ramp.

Originally from Singapore, Cassandra Yap is an artist and art director based in London. Her work often explores the juxtaposition between dark and beautiful subjects to create the surreal. Her work has featured in exhibitions including Print Club London's Blisters shows, the London Illustration Fair, Affordable Art Fair, Film 4 Summer Screens at Somerset House and Scream Gallery, with commissions including Wonderland Magazine, Lily Vanilli, Bobby White London, Moussy Tokyo and Film 4.
