Biography

Anna Marrow has been a printmaker, illustrator and image-maker for over 20 years. Using household paints, biros, fine liners, pencil crayons and screen print, Anna has mastered the art of visual storytelling. Covering a breadth of styles from Pop Art, fantasy art to Street Art, her paintings and illustrations offer esoteric glimpses of urban and suburban life in weird and wonderful ways.
Anna’s practice combines diverse and disparate narratorial symbols from everyday objects to fantastical characters, often drawn from her own childhood memories of the 70s. A somewhat kitsch retro aesthetic also pervades her work; her use of bold and contrasting colours and compositions create an electric feel that is further energised by the exotic creatures that roam her cityscapes. For example, in Nyx - Goddess of The Night, water-based screen printing inks on paper.
Anna has been commissioned by a stellar selection of clients, including The Guardian and Selfridges, as well as record label companies like Polydor and Go Beat.
Anna studied Fine Art in Bristol and then Communication Design at Central Saint Martins, specialising in illustration and receiving a distinction at MA Level. Anna now works from Spike Island Print Studios in Bristol where she continues to hone her silkscreen craft. Her exotic prints with their hand-drawn lines, photographic imagery and playful splashes of colour are one-of-a-kind collectables.
