Collection: Daniel Sambraus | Artist

Daniel Sambraus is a British fine art photographer who has spent many years photographing architecture and the urban landscape. His contemporary architectural photography deals with the structures of the city itself, applying the design principles of fragmentation, repetition and montage to create varying degrees of alienation in his chosen motifs, sometimes reminiscent of ornamental structures, so that single elements of the urban cacophony can be isolated and highlighted.

Daniel believes that each urban space has relatively few "signifiers" that are individual objects but, in the eyes of a viewer, define the space as a whole. Images of Big Ben, Westminster Palace, Tower Bridge or the Tower do not only represent themselves but evoke the idea of "London" as a whole, with all its attributes, making his iconic cityscape prints instantly recognisable.

The creative process behind Daniel Sambraus's work involves walking through and observing the architecture of cities, camera in hand, capturing whatever inspires him. Sometimes a photograph is the basis for the final image, but often an element is not right: the light, the time of day, the angle. He then returns, sometimes several times, often with a tripod for long exposures, in pursuit of the perfect architectural image.

Daniel Sambraus's limited-edition photographic prints are sought after by collectors of contemporary photography, architectural art and cityscape art looking for distinctive, evocative images of London and beyond.
