Biography

Jonathan Armstrong is a London-based contemporary artist specialising in print-making, sculpture, and mixed-media assemblage. His work transforms discarded objects and everyday relics into thought-provoking compositions, exploring memory, obsolescence and transformation. Recognised for his innovative use of materials, Armstrong blends found-object art, conceptual sculpture and contemporary fine art to create visually compelling, narrative-driven works.

Jonathan Armstrong's journey began with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Sculpture) from Newcastle Polytechnic in the mid‑1980s. After a successful career as a commercial art director, he returned to academic study and completed a Master of Arts in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art in 2020.

At the heart of Armstrong’s art lies a meditation on time, obsolescence, memory and the environment. By cataloguing and visualising “the things we throw away”, he poses questions about our consumption, our relationship to place and material culture, and the fragility of human experience. His prints, sculptures and assemblages invite reflection on waste, reuse, memory and the traces of everyday life.
