'When Angels Are Near' was originally created as a piece of street art, along with its sister image 'Divine Compassion', before being brought into the studio edition. A composition that once lived on a public wall, now a signed studio print in the artist's delicate, surreal language. The tall, narrow 29.5 × 84.1cm portrait panel is made for the spaces other prints won't fit: staircases, hallway walls, kitchen alcoves, or hung as a deliberate pair with its sister piece. Hand-signed, stamped and numbered by the artist, edition of 25.

Alexandra Gallagher (b. 1980, Greater Manchester) is a British multidisciplinary artist whose practice navigates the boundaries between painting, collage, street art, printmaking and mixed media. Her work operates at the confluence of Surrealism and contemporary feminist discourse, interrogating visual and cultural constructions of femininity through a complex synthesis of symbolic imagery and psychological narrative. Her street art credentials are real: she created large-scale paste-up works for the Blackburn Open Walls festival in collaboration with Graham & Brown. Her accolades include Saatchi Showdown Surrealism Second Place Winner, Secret Art Prize Runner-Up 2016, London Contemporary Art Prize 2018 finalist, and shortlistings for the Rise Art Prize and Zealous X.
