An original print in the fullest sense: a two-plate colour etching with an additional screen-printed mark, from 2011, the year this celebrated series of four was made. And the process carries a collector's distinction worth quoting: as the artist explains, her prints are made from her own hand-painted stencils, one for each colour, and "the resulting image exists only in its printed form. There is no 'original' from which the print has been copied". 'A Good Day IV' is the fourth of the four-piece series (I-IV, each £300, edition of 100), the optimistic title doing exactly what her best work does: capturing a place of intense atmosphere in bold abstraction.

Charlotte Cornish is a painter and printmaker who has been working professionally for over 30 years, with much of her work held in public, private and corporate collections, including colleges within the University of Cambridge, the Bank of England, Fujitsu, the British Medical Association, the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and UCLH. She studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Art in 1992, with further studies at Central Saint Martins, and later returned to the Slade as an Honorary Research Assistant in the Printmaking Department followed by part-time lecturing at De Montfort University. She is an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (ARE). On her inspirations, in her own words: "I am drawn to places full of intense atmosphere, colours, noises, smells, and I hope to capture something of these experiences in the work... I have always loved exploring the possibilities of colour and colour relationships and the infinite potential to create dynamic connections and reactions".
