One of only four unique monotypes: a 50 × 50cm screen-printed work with its own hand-painted elements, so this impression is a one-off within a series of four, distinct from its sibling 'Hithe I'. 'Hithe' names the old English word for a small river landing place, a place of arrival, and this piece belongs to the series the market has already claimed: sold at the artist's own site, at Bankside Gallery (the home of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers), at TAP Galleries, and framed at Byard Art. The price trajectory of her monotype series is visible in the market: her 'With Spirit I' monotype (same 50 × 50cm format, series of four) is offered at £990 at the London Original Print Fair 2026.

Charlotte Cornish is a painter and printmaker who has been working professionally for over 30 years, with much of her work held in public, private and corporate collections, including colleges within the University of Cambridge, the Bank of England, Fujitsu, the British Medical Association, the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and UCLH. She studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Art in 1992, with further studies at Central Saint Martins, and later returned to the Slade as an Honorary Research Assistant in the Printmaking Department followed by part-time lecturing at De Montfort University. Her recent works on paper combine screen print monotype processes with directly applied paint, and she is an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (ARE). On her inspirations, in her own words: "I am drawn to places full of intense atmosphere, colours, noises, smells, and I hope to capture something of these experiences in the work... I have always loved exploring the possibilities of colour and colour relationships and the infinite potential to create dynamic connections and reactions".
