Why collectors love it

The middle panel of the celebrated 'Venturing' trilogy: a lithograph and screenprint at 86 × 72cm, from 2007, printed at the renowned Curwen Studio. The museum credentials run through the series: the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge holds an impression of 'Venturing III', gifted by The Print Studio, in the same image family. And the edition is visibly maturing: Sarah Wiseman Gallery's impression is numbered 97/100, so the late numbers are what remain at the galleries, the clearest sign a 100-print edition is thinning.

About the artist

Charlotte Cornish is a painter and printmaker who has been working professionally for over 30 years, with much of her work held in public, private and corporate collections, including colleges within the University of Cambridge, the Bank of England, Fujitsu, the British Medical Association, the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and UCLH. She studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Art in 1992, with further studies at Central Saint Martins, and later returned to the Slade as an Honorary Research Assistant in the Printmaking Department followed by part-time lecturing at De Montfort University. She is an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (ARE). On her inspirations, in her own words: "I am drawn to places full of intense atmosphere, colours, noises, smells, and I hope to capture something of these experiences in the work... I have always loved exploring the possibilities of colour and colour relationships and the infinite potential to create dynamic connections and reactions".
