Why collectors love it

This is not an edition of identical prints: each of the ten pieces in the series is a unique work on paper, screen-printed as a monotype then developed with hand-painted elements, so no two share exactly the same composition. The title places the work in the Lake District, walking country near Grasmere and Rydal Water, part of Cornish's celebrated series of place-inspired abstractions. Provenance is unusually strong: the piece was selected for the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers' (RE) 2024 members' annual exhibition at Bankside Gallery, the home of British original printmaking. With only ten in existence and one already sold at Byard Art, scarcity is real.

About the artist

Charlotte Cornish is a painter and printmaker who has been working professionally for over 30 years, with much of her work held in public, private and corporate collections, including colleges within the University of Cambridge, the Bank of England, Fujitsu, the British Medical Association, the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and UCLH. She studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Art in 1992, with further studies at Central Saint Martins, and later returned to the Slade as an Honorary Research Assistant in the Printmaking Department followed by part-time lecturing at De Montfort University. Her recent works on paper combine screen print monotype processes with directly applied paint, and she is an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (ARE). On her inspirations, in her own words: "I am drawn to places full of intense atmosphere, colours, noises, smells, and I hope to capture something of these experiences in the work... I have always loved exploring the possibilities of colour and colour relationships and the infinite potential to create dynamic connections and reactions".
