The pink colourway of Baldwin's Warhol-inspired flower series: a bold light pink bloom paired with a smaller blue flower and the suggestion of a green flower against a black and white background, with the hopeful swallow appearing to make it unmistakably Baldwin. Part of the 'Utopia, Delirium and Infatuation' suite of nine prints, these are Baldwin's first handmade silkscreen editions, drawn directly onto True Grain drafting film and created entirely by the artist's hand.
Dan Baldwin's work is at once abstract and figurative, drawing on both the imaginative world and reality. His recurring motifs, skeletons, swallows, crucifixes and guns, each carry meaning (the swallow means hope, the skeleton death), creating a duality of love and life that examines what it is to be human. Born in Manchester, Baldwin studied at Eastbourne College of Art and now lives and works in West Sussex. The trilogy was created as a subtle homage to Andy Warhol, one of the first artists who inspired Baldwin at art school in the early 1990s.
