Why collectors love it
The colourway that started it all: the first in the Love and Light series that has gone on to explore many colour pairings. This edition has been created with the option of having the bird facing up, down, left or right, so you choose which way the swallow flies in your space. As the edition sells out, not all variations will remain available. The series grew from Baldwin's 2018 one-day project for CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, and the title Love and Light was chosen as a reminder to remain on the positive side of life. After huge success with the original print and a swallow silk shirt made with designer Mercy Delta, Baldwin scaled the image up while keeping it powerfully simple, a striking contrast with his signature densely layered compositions.

About the artist
Dan Baldwin is a British artist known for blending the abstract with the figurative to create works that intersect reality and fantasy. Swallows are a motif seen across his oeuvre, often used to represent freedom. His frequently recurring motifs, from skeletons to swallows, flowers to firearms, crucifixes to cartoon characters, are often contradictory, creating an uncomfortable visual paradox.
